July 30, 2019

Aulani Lobby

Did you know that Disney has a resort in Hawaii? Located on Oahu, Aulani , a Disney Resort and Spa offers a truly Hawaiian experience. It’s easily accessible when flying into Honolulu. This resort features everything you love about Disney Resorts, while taking in the natural appeal of Hawaii’s exotic landscape and culture. Aulani is the first Disney resort to not have a nearby theme park. However, the good news is that none is needed. The Aulani resort has everything necessary for the ultimate getaway to a tropical paradise. It is perfect for everything from honeymoons, family vacations and family reunions.

Hawaiian Tradition and Disney

Hula Lessons in the Community Room

Disney and Polynesian culture have an intertwining history. It goes back at least as far as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. Whether as a filming location or the setting for a Disney story, Hawaii has a prominent place in Disney history. As experts in storytelling, thorough research and authenticity, Disney is best suited to represent the cultural roots of Hawaiian tradition. Disney conveys these things experientially, as well as through a variety of details on the resort. Visual queues, learning opportunities, and story based entertainment are all rooted in Hawaii’s rich history and culture.

Complimentary Resort Activities

Inclusive experiences and activities include fire pit storytelling, guided walking tours Ukulele lessons, and more. One of the tours is a cast member guided look at curated cultural art thoughtfully selected by Disney Imagineers, a guided nature walk gives another imagineering perspective to the resort, while looking at the natural beauty that inspires Aulani. Similar to a cruise navigator, you can get check out “The Daily Ewa” for all events, locations and times.

A little splashing in the Keiki Cove

The Waikolohe swimming pool is an 82,000 square foot zero entry pool with lots of exciting elements to explore including a lazy river, rapids and a tunnel body slide. This is the main attraction among the six swimming pools and splash zones at Aulani and guest access to these is complimentary as well.

The Spa at Aulani

Disney offers spa services at its most luxurious resorts; but at Aulani Disney resort and spa, Disney really takes the reins. They offer the ultimate in relaxation and even include offerings for families, including island style makeover treatments for the kids, and family massage and spa treatments that everyone can enjoy together, or individually.

Outdoor showers at the spa

The Kula Wai outdoor hydrotherapy garden is a rejuvenating experience that is Uniquely Disney. The treatment couples massage with water therapies based on the distinctive variety of waterfalls in Hawaii. The Pulu Bar is a place where you can make your skin soft and saturated with active Hawaiian herbs and moisturizing oils. These  are available for the family as well.

Aulani Guests with larger families, or just looking for more room in their lodgings can book a villa with up to 3 bedrooms, featuring amenities from home.  These incredible accommodations sleep up to 12 people.

The standard rooms are simple and elegant, with the opulence gradually rising in the details as you get to the larger accommodations. Aulani Dining

Papalua Shave Ice Snack

Including pool bars and snack kiosks, such as the island famous PaPaLUA shave ice, there are nine dining locations at Aulani. You will definitely want to visit ‘Ama’Ama, an open air restaurant overlooking Ko Olina beach. The elegant atmosphere is matched by classic Hawaiian cuisine made contemporary. Disney’s Signature character dining buffet MAKAHIKI serves breakfast and dinner. While the breakfast features character experiences, there are select nights when characters also join in on Dinner.  No trip to Hawaii would be complete with having shave ice for snacks or dessert!

One thing we love is the refillable resort mugs here.  They are $19.99 plus tax for the length of your stay.  You can get unlimited coffee, tea, hot chocolate and soda at Ulu Café and poolside!  Best of all, if you book with EZDis, you will get the mug as a complimentary thank you gift!

KA WA’A Luau

The main event at Aulani Disney resort and spa is KA WA’A a luau. This is a ceremonial event full of traditional Hawaiian entertainment ant story telling. The evening unfolds with historically driven performances that delve into the roots of the canoe exploration culture that brought the ancient settlers to the shores of Hawaii. The night includes pre shows activities, an introduction to the event, a buffet, and the main performance; and because it’s Disney, you know it’s full of family fun.
