On the edge of the galaxy, between the Unknown Regions and Wild Space, is the planet of Batuu; a planet that was once a thriving stop for traders and travelers before advancements were made in lightspeed. Planning on visiting Batuu? Here are some ways to prepare for your journey:
Like any good vacation, a trip to Batuu may require a bit of preplanning. Three of the experiences do require a reservation ahead of time and one works with a virtual queue So if sampling an exotic concoction at Oga’s Cantina or customizing your own legendary lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop are part of your wishlist, you’ll want to look into advanced reservations or save the hassle and let your EZ Dis agent do it for you.
Oga’s Canitna is open daily from park opening to park closing. While reservations are definitely required, you will still want a lunch or dinner reservation elsewhere. The Cantina is all about the entertainment (and the exotic beverages with minimal lite bites offered). DJ E-3X, the droid formerly the Starspeeder 3000 pilot. This is definitely an experience place and while a reservation guarantees entry, it does not guaranty one of the limited seats, Small parties may be seated at a large table with others. Unfortunately, there is no accounting for if you will all be on the same side of the force, so tread lightly.
A true Jedi needs a light saber and that is what you will find in Savi’s Workhop. Pick from four lightsabers: Peace and Justice; Power and Control; Elemental Nature; or Protection and Defense. This experience is recommending for ages 5 and up. Please note, due to the popularity and tight quarters, each builder can currently only be accompanied by one guest. Reservations are required (and have a no show fee). Cost to build is $199 plus tax. Good news, as you leave Batuu and make your way to back to your Galaxy, Lightsabers are TSA approved for carry on or checked bags.
What could be better than having your own droid? Check out the Droid Depot. Here you wil assemble a custom Astromech Unit, selecting either the BB-Series or R-Series. The experience is $99 plus tax and available for ages 3 ad up (though under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Once you’ve arrived, you might be wondering what to do first! Word on the street is that Hondo Ohnaka is looking for a discreet flight crew to help with a smuggling mission, there’s a spot for everyone over 38 inches, and you don’t even need flight training! If you’re up to the challenge, be sure to stop by Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and train to be a pilot, gunner, or engineer! After flying the Millennium Falcon, you’ll probably want to find a souvenir or two to remember your out-of-this-galaxy moment! Might we recommend a trip to Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities? Every nook and cranny of the shop is filled with priceless riches from across the galaxy – there’s even a treasure or two from Earth (like the Ark of the Covenant from the Indiana Jones scene of the Great Movie Ride).
It is confirmed (as of 8/26/19) that Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run will be using a virtual queue .

While you wait, Black Spire Outpost, the largest village on Batuu, has become a thriving destination as of late. Whispers of the Resistance’s presence on the planet has attracted the attention of the First Order, not to mention those that call Black Spire Outpost home. With the added population on the planet, you might want to consider planning your visit to Batuu early in the day. In fact, if you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel between the dates of September 1st – November 2nd, you’ll have access to extra, Extra Magic Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. . .which means your visit to Batuu can begin at 6 a.m.!
Did you know that the planet of Batuu has not one, not two, but THREE suns? This is why you’ll hear the citizens of the planet use the Batuuese phrase “Bright Suns” to welcome you. All of those suns make for a rather warm environment, so we encourage packing sunscreen from your home planet.
Speaking of Batuuese, the native language spoken around the planet is very similar to the English language; however, Aurebesh (one of the most common languages in the galaxy) can be a bit difficult decipher. Worry not, your datapad (Batuuese for smart phone) has a translation tool built in – just be sure to download the Play Disney Parks app before arriving. (Note, this is different than the My Disney Experience app). You’ll also be able to utilize the scanning tool to solve puzzles, the hacking tool to interact with droids at Droid Depot, and the tuning feature to intercept transmissions.
Regardless of where your allegiance lies, we hope you have an enjoyable visit to Batuu. May the spires keep you and have a good journey!
