One of the most difficult things to plan on a Walt Disney World vacation is how to coordinate between families; especially booking as a large group. While there are various approaches, the best solution is often find the rooms that sleep more guests. Among these top seven Disney Resorts for large parties two are given high marks for value. However, they may sleep fewer guests than the others.
While many Disney Vacation Club Villas sleep 8 guests, you will find that similar accommodations are found among budget options. Some resorts like the ones listed below have a higher maximum occupancy. The best way to ensure you are getting the best value on accommodations appropriate for your group size is to book through a knowledgeable travel agent who specializes in Disney. Keep in mind, more people to a room doesn’t always equate to less expensive per person. Additionally, all of these rooms allow for a child under age 3 on top of the occupancy listed!
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
The value resort Art of Animation features suites built for larger families. Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King Suites sleep six people, with clever usage of transitioning designs to hide away beds to make more room when not in use plus two full baths. In addition to the size, this resort is desirable because of the price for what you get, the detailed theming, and the Big Blue Pool. Starting in the fall of 2019 they will also have the sky gondola to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot later in 2019. Extra perfect for those who want to roll a stroller right on at the end of the night with a sleeping child. Check out our video of the Lion King Suite here
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
The Cabins in Fort Wilderness also sleep 6 guests. This is like having a villa and roughing it at the same time. It’s a good alternative to camping and surrounded by real wilderness while being just minutes away from Magic Kingdom. Because it is so different from other Disney Resorts for large parties, it’s easily overlooked; but it can be a great choice in lodging. Enjoy the bonus of a full kitchen and your own barbecue, but think carefully, this cabin only has one full bath (with the sink inside the bathroom!)
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
This was the original Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort, so every room is more spacious than its successor. Old Key West villas range from Studios that sleep 4 all the way up to Grand Villas that sleep 12. The resort provides solitude, though large to get around, and easy access to the dining and entertainment of Disney Springs, just a boat ride away. Beware though, there are no elevators to the rooms available to the public. Requests can be made for ground floor rooms, but think about the possibility of a second or third floor walk up with a stroller!
Disney’s Beach Club Villas
Although Plenty of Disney Vacation Club Villas Sleep 8 guests (some villas only accommodate 4), no other resort offers the incredible Stormalong Bay, an amazing 3 acre mini water park complete with a slide, lazy river, whirlpool and oh so squishy sand bottom! Like many of the pools at Disney, this is a gated pool and requires a room key for entry. If pool time isn’t enough to excite you, maybe the 3 minute walk to Epcot’s International Gateway entrance will have you in love. Grab dinner at one of the unique pavilions, check out the Food and Wine Festival, or even enjoy a concert at the American Gardens Theater.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas
Looking for something a little more peaceful? Check out the Villas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House, or Kidani Village. Here you can reserve a villa that sleeps from 4 up to 12. Make your reservation carefully. As some rooms you pay for a standard view (read as could be parking lot, roof top or grass) while the savannah view rooms have a premium, there is nothing like your morning coffee with a giraffe passing by.
Check out our Grand Villa Vlog which will show the amazing 1,173 square foot 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and gaming room!
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The DVC property connected with Contemporary Resort is Bay Lake Tower. This property is also just a short jaunt from Magic Kingdoms gates. The views are sensational and this is the home of the exclusive members only Top of the World lounge. Bay Lake Tower is connected to Contemporary by a bridge and shares access to California Grill, the Monorail, Chef Mickey’s and more. Bay Lake living includes studios, sleeping up to 4 guests;1 bedroom villas, sleeping up to 5 guests; 2 bedroom villas sleeping up to 9 guests and 3 bedroom grand villas sleeping up to 12 people!
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
Finally, the creme de la creme. When you get this high on the list of best Disney resorts for large parties it’s really splitting hairs and even comes down to personal preference. However, most would agree that Grand Floridian is by far the most luxurious of all of the Disney Resorts. The 4 Diamond hotel ranks highest among any of the other deluxe resorts, nearly making it to 5. The famed restaurant Victoria and Alberts regularly achieves the prestigious AAA 5 diamond award. Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs are the only two Disney resorts to offer spa services. Grand Floridian has studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and Grand Villas that sleep 5-12 guests as well, and the resort is mere minutes from Magic Kingdom via monorail. The Grand Villa even includes an incredible media room for your movie viewing!
